I love teaching people about plants that grow on the edges. They remind us that life often thrives after disruption.

Hi! I’m Stephanie and I will be your plant guide through this course.
I have spent my whole life exploring, admiring, listening to, and working with plants. From a young age, my aunt frequently took us exploring in the white mountains of New Hampshire. I was often found picking apart Marigold flowers to investigate how they grow their own seeds, and trekking through ferns in my backyard to collect salamanders. As a young adult, I became more interested in the plant world and became frustrated that my culture didnt find it important to teach us anything about the thousands of plants that we share space with. Everyday we walk by living, breathing, beings and most of us couldn’t name the majority of them. I thought, why don’t we teach plant identification? Civilizations of old would be appalled. What a sign of how disconnected we have become from our place in the natural world.
So, I began self learning about all of the unloved, undomesticated, wild plants that are around us every day. I set out to read books, listen to podcasts and strike up conversations with those more educated than myself. I went on plant walks with seasoned herbalists and in 2018 enrolled in the Flowerfolk herbalism class with Steph Zabel and Vicki Sargsyan in Cambridge, MA to deepen my knowledge base and grow my relationship with a myriad of herbs. I’m over the moon excited to share the ancient wisdom and power of these Seasonal plants with you and I’d be honored to circle up with you.
